As Szkocja.net is viewed by approx. 650,000 unique visitors per month, generating about 8,660,000 page views, we responded to people's needs and indeed demands by launching redesigned architecture of Szkocja.net. Our features coverage offers very useful classifieds section and a full range of in-depth information devoted to the subject of living in Scotland. We're providing useful information about Scottish government, culture, education, multiculturalism, health system, housing, banking, working law and conditions, transport, getting around, and more. Also very popular forum gives the irreverent look at current Polish affairs and community activities in Scotland. As we move forward, we continue to be guided by our unique ability to think beyond what's merely possible to what people really want and need, and to innovate to those ideals. BackgroundIn Poland, there is an available and willing workforce that can help meet 'Fresh Talent' needs in line with the Scottish Executives initiatives. There are a huge number of people in Poland, considering relocation to Scotland to improve their economic situation. They divide into two main sub-groups: skilled blue-collar workers and students pursuing further education. They share the Scottish view that prosperity rests on a liberal and competitive economy. In addition Poles can assimilate very quickly, which is important in the long term, and there appear to be no cultural clashes. Scotland is an extremely welcoming country, but there are some pockets of concern under the generally open minded surface. Attitudes towards immigration are mixed and significant minority yet to be convinced. Admittedly, we never experienced anything else but true hospitality. Our aim is to introduce and integrate Polish people into the Scottish labour market but also into social, cultural and civic life. We would like to channel the big wave of new emigration and transform it into positive energy fuelling Scottish economy. It is our belief that providing specific information and guidance is the best tool to achieve this aim. We are currently witnessing the second year of Polish membership in EU structures (after successful admission in May 2004) and the number of people willing to study, work and stay in Scotland is growing significantly and will grow even further. To implement our ideas, we successfully developed an Internet presence, named at first Edynburg.NET and now known as Szkocja.net. We introduced an interactive service as a platform, on which interested parties could exchange experiences and solve problems concerning all aspects of 'making it work' in Scotland. The design and format of Szkocja.net is based on our collective experience of living and studying in Scotland. Szkocja.net team News Desk - newsdesk
